Being new to polycamp this year, I thought that I should introduce myself and  see if there's anything I might be able to offer to help with the future of polycamp. :)

My name is Heather, and I just last year moved from Lynnwood to Tacoma for Looooooove, big, shmoopy love. :) I had briefly started getting involved with the Snohomish area pagan community when I moved, and hadn't yet found the poly community. Rob and I had just found out about polycamp on Thursday, and only made it for Saturday/ Sunday, but it was a wonderful experience. I loved the family feel, and we wish we had found you all years ago.

I also do a _lot_ of historical reenactment, including organizing events and last year helped create a specialty event for those interested in historical cooking. I've organized events for 30-1,000 attendees and cooked camp kitchens that fed 50, and 5 course feasts that fed 120. I'm just as happy being a helper monkey as organizer or head chef, so If you need help with event or food planning or just an extra pair of hands, let me know. :)

Just an FYI
There is also a Poly_SCA LJ group and Yahoo list, though for the life of me I can't remember the name of the yahoo list very low traffic.
I'm Deb, live in a household with my partners, my fiance and his daughter moved up about a year and a half ago/two years or so and played SCA actively in Caid. We do less here, have found it hard to integrate into the local group.

You did the symposium last year? I heard it was great. Sadly I couldn't find transport and canceled at the last minute.

Re: Just an FYI
Oooh, I didn't know that, I'll have to try to find it. I know there used to be one called infinite hearts that I'm still on but is pretty dead.

If you ever want to come play in the SCA and would like a friendly face to hang out with, or camp with just let me know. I know lots of people who don't necessarily play where they live. :)

Yes, that was me, I'm hoping it keeps going this year- we had 8 full tracks of classed going both days. Someone else is doing it this year down in Oregon, but I haven't heard anything yet and it's getting late to recruit teachers and make travel arrangements. I may take it on again next year, and I'm actually thinking of doing it at Millerslyvania, as long at they let us cook over fire. :) We'll see. With any luck I may be presenting at Oxford next year!

Oh i think it might have been infinite hearts, I'm on it, its pretty dead. Maybe I'll holler next time we are out to an event. It's always good to meet new people.
And Yay on Oxford. Whats your topic?

Mind if I friend you? We've got a couple of folks in common

Re: Just an FYI
I'm a HUGE dork, I just realized I hadn't gotten back to you ages ago.

I was thinking of proposing a paper on Italian salt cured meats, specifically Prosciutto, using Messisbugo and Scappi as my source material. However, Rob and I are not expecting a family expansion so all research trips more than 2-5 hours away have been put on hold. I'm still organizing the historical cooking symposium though.

I'm always happy to have new friends! I'll be sure I friended you back. Sorry again for the long, long delay! Will you be at May Crown? We're planning on attending.
